DEL MONTE KITCHENOMICS: Ituloy Ang Alaga ng Tunay na Lutong Bahay

Nothing compares to the love and care that a home-cooked meal makes possible. The prevalent practice of "Lutong bahay" in most Filipino households can be considered as one of the strong foundations of the close family ties that Filipino are known for. In fact, most of the conversations and bonding moments in the Philippines happen over a  good meal. The more delicious the meal, the longer the family stays to catch up with each other after a long day at work or in school.

In an increasingly hectic world, this is the tradition which the new advocacy of Del Monte Kitchenomics,"One Recipe a Day", would like to protect. Launched last October 12, 2014 - during the 30th year anniversary celebration held simultaneously in Manila, Cebu and Davao - the advocacy kicked off with Del Monte Kitchenomics members and volunteer moms coming together to cook one year's worth of recipes - 365 dishes - all in one day. The kick-off activity meant to establish the range of variety that can be found in the Del Monte Kitchenomics recipe database (from ulam to snacks to pasta dishes to soups and salads to desserts), as well as show the ease by which each recipe can be prepared. It is meant to show that even with the hurried pace of today's world, keeping the lutong bahay tradition is still possible.

What is the advocacy about?
As the roles of today's homemakers become more and more demanding and complex, it is not easy to find the time to make a home cooked meal every day. As the go-to meal planning partner, Del Monte Kitchenomics has put together a range of solutions that will make cooking one lutong-bahay recipe a day possible.

Beyond the recipes that are regularly provided on the Del Monte Kitchenomics Facebook Page, and those that can be easily accessed through www.delmonte.ph and the Del Monte Kitchenomics app, the recipe line-up will soon be beefed up with more easy to prepare yet delicious recipes (such as 3-step-15 minute recipes, dessert in 10 mins flat, etc.). Del Monte Kitchenomics' facebook fans will also now have a chance to interact with the company's in-house nutritionist and chef on a weekly basis, allowing them to get answers for their cooking and/or nutrition concerns.

Every homemaker also knows that making a meal plan and listing down the ingredients for grocery shopping can be tedious. Del Monte Kitchenomics has also made this task easier with the latest upgrade on its mobile app, the weekly meal planner.

The weekly meal planner allows moms to create their own customized meal plan for 1 to 7 days at a time. They can select recipes from the recipe database for each meal of the day. Once the meal plan is completed, the app automatically generates a shopping list that can also be sent via email so is the list can be easily printed and brought to the grocery. For those without smart phones, a pre-selected weekly meal plan will also be made available every week for extra-added convenience.

As our member's and Filipino homemakers' culinary needs and tastes change, Del Monte Kitchenomics is also evolving to meet the challenges of the new generation. Despite the changes, however, one thing remains constant: its purpose of helping Filipino homemakers create memorable meals that show their love and care for their families.

With this new range of cooking solutions, cooking "One Recipe a Day" is made possible. With Del Monte Kitchenomics as their cooking partner and as their recipe for a better life, bringing the tradition of "lutong bahay" to the next generation of Filipino homemakers is secured.
