Chan Lim Family of Artists and Students

Ribbon Cutting ceremony at the opening of Chan Lim exhibit in SM City North EDSA, Quezon City.

Chinese New Year is fast approaching. Here in the Philippines, where people are predominantly

have a Chinese blood usually celebrate this kind of event. I often saw on TV the usual Chinese

celebration like preparing 'tikoy', round fruits, noodles, fireworks displays, charms and dragon dance.

The Chinese has big influence to our culture even in artistry.

Last January 15, 2017, Chan Lim Family of Artists and Students have prepared more than 300

artworks done in porcelain plates, scroll & oil

paintings. The exhibit is participated by 43 talented artists and will be held from January 15 to

February 12 at The Block Atrium of SM City North EDSA.

It is a fun-filled day where lots of performance and activities enjoyed by those who attended. From

basic painting workshop and demonstration, dragon dance and artwork exhibit. It's  must visit and

the whole family will surely enjoy.

Before the program start, there's a painting workshop. Materials are provided and instructor as well who taught us the basic techniques.

I'm busy painting on my own. It's my first time to try this so I need focus and excited at the same time.

You must believe me when I tell you that my finish painting is a crab? I must say that it is wonderful a great experienced.

The year 2017 celebrates Chan Lim's 80th birth year and it is considered a milestone for the Chinese

culture. That is why all the art exhibits during the year will be the highlights of the event.

The passion of Chan Lim, the family patriarch, lies in Oil and Watercolor. While most of his art are

on canvas, he has forayed into other media such as porcelain plates, Asian lanterns and fans to infuse

Western techniques into the traditional Eastern art.

Dragon Dance performs on the event.

The birthday celebrant itself - Chan Lim received recognition.
Actor Mr. Robin Padilla is present on the said event. He is a supporter of Chan Lim.

I got a chance to take a photo ops with Mr. Robin Padilla. He's very gentleman person, even he is a celebrity, he volunteered to click my camera phone.

The Chan Lims family of Artists has conducted numerous art classes, workshops, seminars, and on-

the-spot painting demonstrations. They have joined several art exhibits locally and internationally.

The elder Chan Lims have successfully nurtured the artistic talents of the third generation. The

younger brood enjoys experimenting with different types of media, along with modern digital

techniques, and incorporates these into art.

Here are some featured artwork in the exhibit.
